A woman with blonde hair and a smile is sitting on a black bench in front of a green leafy background with flowers, pillows, and a pink neon sign that reads "Let's give them something to taco about." She is wearing a red and white gingham dress and shiny gold shoes.

We contain multitudes:

•I love vintage clothes and books

•I’ve raised exactly one (1) child and am a family caregiver. I am a member of the sandwich generation.

•I love Elvis and am a former journalist, The most fun story I ever did was when I spent the weekend following a group of Elvis Tribute artists.

About Erin

I am an Associate Licensed Counselor in Alabama (under supervision) and have an M.Ed. in Counseling from The University of Montevallo, Couples & Family (2024), where I was awarded Outstanding Graduate Student, Couples and Family (‘24).

I am a Clinical Counseling Associate at UAB, working with the Center for Palliative and Supportive Care. I serve outpatients in the Supportive Care Clinic and inpatient Palliative Care Consult Team, providing counseling services to people with serious illnesses and their families. This work is in conjunction with my work as a UAB Psycho-Oncology Counseling Resident.

My clinical interests are diverse and include supporting people with serious illnesses and their families, addiction, and recovery, and helping women navigate life transitions and career change. I'm a Certified Grief Educator, and I use a systems and narrative approach in supporting clients, aka helping people examine their stories and the context from which they came. I practice an integrated approach, drawing from ACT, person-centered, and narrative therapy.

Before becoming a counselor, I worked for more than two decades in journalism, communications, the non-profit sector, and tech. I previously served as Deputy Editor at Southern Living, Director of Community Affairs at The UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center, and team and brand builder for advertising and ad tech companies.

Originally from Clearwater, Florida, I graduated from the University of South Carolina Honors College. I could list writing awards, but it’s more important to know that I graduated from Mermaid Camp and know how to swim with a tail. It’s a Florida thing.
